Title: Illuminae
Author: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff Stars: 5/5 stars Series: The illuminae files_01 Summary: Kady wakes up thinking that the hardest thing that would happen today was breaking up with her boyfriend Ezra, however she finds herself going to bed on a spaceship, on the run from a warship, soon close enough to nuke them. Just to stop them from telling their tale. But however that´s not the only problem, because a virus spreads on the spacecrafts and it´s mutating. Also the fleets AI, that is supposed to protect them has gone mad. Overview: This book is told through documents, emails and much more and I adore it. It took me a while to get into this book, about 200 pages. But when I did you could not put it down. The whole world, the characters, everything was just amazingly done. Offensive content: There are a lot of swearing but it is blurred out. -Spoilers down under- Cons: The book took me way too long to get into, since it was told in this way. I really do find it sad because now I have to reread Illuminae to be able to really enjoy the first 200 pages. At the end part, when Ezra is said to be dead and she´s all alone with hundreds of affected and AIDAN i found myself being so depressed because I really did think that she was going to die. It just made me not wanting to finish the book, because I did not want Kady to die. Everybody was dead or soon to be dead and I just wanted the put the book down. Now I keep wondering, what would have happened if I did? So I think that there should have been something more than to defend Hypatia to keep the book going. Pros: I really enjoyed the characters, and after reading this book I just found myself wanting to be more like Kady. They where so well done, even in this structure which is truly amazing. All the characters was amazingly detailed even AIDAN. Also the romance was amazing, even if they just kissed once in the end of the book. (I really do hope that Kady and Ezra will name one of their kids Aidan.) The plot twist made me lose my mind, both of them. I did not se them coming even if I had this hope throughout the last part of the book that Ezra would fall from the sky and save the galaxy. Quote: "The fighters are tiny. Insects, really. But ants can slay an elephant, if there are enough of them. Especially ants armed with high-yield explosives and depleted uranium."
